Music has always been a part of my life. Growing up I was surrounded by talented musicians in my Dad's family. From him playing bass in many bands to my aunts' singing in church and musicals and singing Christmas Carol's after Christmas Eve dinner. Music and the desire to play music has always been part of my story. I remember begging my parents for piano lessons when I was young. When we finally got the piano and I started lessons I was hooked! My major instrument in college was the clarinet. I also performed on alto and tenor saxophone in jazz band, played flute for various occasions.
After college I was fortunate enough to teach high school and middle school band in the Lakeville school district. In my five years of teaching I learned that I really love teaching music to students in a one on one setting. While I loved the excitement and energy of 350 band members on the football field under the Friday night lights and marching down the street in parades, having a concert band of 112 9th graders was a little overwhelming to me. During my time in Lakeville I was also fortunate enough to teach a couple sections of classroom guitar. It was so much fun for me to teach students music that wouldn't normally take a music class in high school. These were the students I learned from the most! I am so happy that I can continue to teach piano, guitar and woodwind students out of my home studio. Each lesson with each student goes by so fast. I love hearing the progress they make from lesson to lesson and year to year.
